Dynamic Balancing

When rotating equipment vibrates excessively, it causes stress that reduces component life and has the potential to cause catastrophic failure. Even with the proper predictive maintenance program in place, equipment can become unbalanced. When excessive vibration is present it is often caused by an unbalance. In rotating equipment, unbalance can occur due normal wear and tear, deposit buildup, corrosion, material problems, temperature changes, or deformation. Titans Industrial offers dynamic balancing services that help to identify the cause of the unbalance and offer solution to correct the unbalanced equipment.

Infrared Imaging

Vibration condition monitoring is an excellent tool for diagnosing mechanical and certain electrical malfunctions, but has significant limitations in many electrical applications. Most all electrical components exhibit rising temperatures prior to failure, but it is extremely time-consuming and inefficient to use a single point temperature measuring device inside a complicated panel or switchgear. Infrared imaging can also be used to determine mode shapes, operating deflection shapes, and frequencies. Infrared is non-contact, non-intrusive approach that measures heat distribution and concentrations. This data gives insight into the deformations that a structure is undergoing, without the need to place sensors directly on to the structure.

Infrared imaging is a proven condition monitoring technology that has been utilized effectively for years. Using infrared technology, we are able to scan and provide infrared image imaging of the temperature profile of the electrical or mechanical component of interest.

Modal Analysis plus FEA: Powerful tools for redesign

Our Modal Analysis and Finite Element Analysis capabilities give us the power to take the guesswork out of redesign.

It works like this:

Modal Analysis field data is taken with our multi-channel data acquisition equipment.
This data is used to generate a set of Frequency Response Functions and a modal animation.
A Finite Element model is built. The results of the FEA simulation are correlated with the field data.
Different redesign configurations are then evalsuated with the correlated Finite Element model.
The result is a redesign solution that can be implemented with high confidence in its success.


General Vibration Analysis

Vibration analysis is used to help troubleshoot and detect early precursors to machine failure, allowing machinery to be repaired or replaced before the asset fails to perform its function.

All rotating equipment vibrates, but as components wear or reach the end of their serviceable life, their vibration signature provides an early warning of the developing problem.

Ongoing monitoring of equipment allows technicians to identify these indicators of wear and damage well before a functional failure occurs.

Why is vibration analysis important?

Acoustic and Ultrasounds Analysis

A very important diagnostic instrument for understanding the condition of valves is high and very high frequency vibration analysis. Acoustic emission sensors (up to 900 kHz) and ultrasound sensors (38-42 kHz) are generally used for this type of analysis.

These analyses provide information such as:

the instant valves open and close
the wear condition of hyper-compressor valves
excessive impact of valves on opening and closing


Pressure pulsations

Pressure pulsations are very often the cause of serious problems for reciprocating compressors. The presence of more or less significant pressure pulsations definitely has an effect on performance of the machine.



It is therefore obvious that measurement and analysis of pressure pulsations is of considerable importance in identifying issues and malfunctions in reciprocating compressors (piping and volume bottle failure, high vibration, etc.).

With its measurement systems and software, SINT Technology is able to compare pressure pulsations with expected values and the values required by reference standards and also to analyse pressure pulsations simultaneously constructing Pressure-Volume curves.


Failed Bearing Inspection

Changing a failed bearing without determining a root cause leads to repeated failures. Pulling the bearing early enough in its failure stages so that a proper inspection can be done is valuable to determining a root cause.



This inspection includes any rolling element bearing installed on critical equipment that fails prematurely. With this assessment, repeat failures can be nearly eliminated. This also minimizes downtime and reduces risk to human safety and the environment.


Root Cause Failure Analysis

Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) is a systematic way of reviewing all the evidence from a failure in order to determine a root cause that is manageable and prevent recurrence.

RCFA is triggered by machinery failures that are repeated, have significant operational or repair consequences, or have any safety or environmental consequences.

This process of investigation significantly reduces the risk of repeated failures.

A minimum of a secondary education diploma or equivalent is recommended. The open book certification exam consists of 25 questions with a one hour time limit. A minimum score of 70% is required for passing.

Torsional vibration and torque

Analysis of torsional vibration is an extremely effective diagnostic instrument for identifying abnormal conditions during machine operation which can lead to damage, such as:

Coupling/drive shaft failure
Accelerated gear wear and gear tooth failure
Key deformation
Slippage of coupling hubs
Premature wear of electric motor windings
Irregular output

TITANS INDUSTRIAL’s condition monitoring technology can perform torsional analyses on a wide range of machinery thanks to its advanced measurements systems and processing software.

Measurement of torque and shaft speed are required to determine transmitted mechanical power. When a greater accuracy of measurement is required (for example, in machinery tests and inspections, acceptance tests, etc.), it is necessary to calibrate the instrumented coupling.


TITANS INDUSTRIAL can offer a torque meter (instrumented coupling) calibration service with its own calibration facility, which can calibrate couplings for transmission of torques up to 12 kNm.
